how to drastically change your appearance in four easy steps. probably not to others, but it's weird looking at my face now. i've had this stupid thing in there for almost eight years. i also realized afterward that now i'm unbalanced: my nose and industrial are on the left, and nothing's on the right. oh well. i've hated this stupid hoop for months.
today i had the pleasure of lying around with horrible back pain (carried over from last night) and listening to my neighbors' dogs bark and howl for three hours. it makes me wonder if the neighbors are in there dead. at least it's the first of the month, so if the office doesn't get their rent they'll investigate. i'd hate to have to smell that. blech.
on an equally disgusting note, 2010 is bringing us a remake of wuthering heights starring a 21-year-old heathcliff. they have to appeal to the twilight crowd, you know? i'm committing suicide at the red carpet premier and reanimating laurence olivier's corpse to take care of the people behind this travesty.

With each Spring Thaw, my apartment reveals a history of scents.
Of post-war brides and new babies. Of the 4 hippies who lived here and painted the kitchen walls a perfect acid green to match the living room's shag carpet.
The dusty musk of a decade of dis-repair, and the landlord who offered cheap rent to university students, in exchange for the rushing home when it rained to make sure the buckets were in just the right spot to catch the leaking ceiling.
And the chinese speedskaters who lived here, and painted the closets a crazy bright yellow and left behind a scar of hot oil on the kitchen lineoleum and an unmistakeable scent of an Asian supermarket that refuses to be removed from the kitchen cupboards.
Each Spring, my bedroom smells like fresh paint from the rush paint job I did two years ago to remove the dark, depressing forest green.
I open the windows and the fresh air mixes with the time passed to create a new scent - the smell of my home in Springtime.
